A man, a Corgi, and a marriage proposal!

Every now and then I get a story that's so wonderful, so unexpected, so delightful that I can't wait to share it with you! This is one of those stories. Prepare to laugh, cry and toast a very happy occasion with me!

A few days ago, Michael M. wrote:

"Hello!

My girlfriend (well now fiance, ha ha) goes to this site about 6 times a day so I figured I'd let you know our little engagement story! We have our Corgi, Caesar, who has actually been on this site a couple times before; Elyse and I are absolutely obsessed with him! Every time we take him outside, we put on his dog collar but always take it off once we get back inside because he has such a big, thick neck that we think he loves the freedom once indoors! We always make a funny joke to one another if we notice the Caesar's collar is on still inside, saying "Oh, Mom didn't take your collar off, I see?" or vice versa.  So on a random Monday night, December 3rd, I took Caesar outside to go to the bathroom and swapped his collar with one that I had custom-made, embroidered with the words "Will you marry me, Elyse?" When he finished up and came back in, Elyse was confused as to why Ceasar had his collar on indoors. She asked me if I had bought him a new one as she took it off, and as she read the message on the collar I got down on one knee ... and she said yes!"

And so, my friends, I believe we can safely draw a few conclusions from this happy event:

1) This Michael guy is pretty sweet and clearly knows the way to his gal's heart (via Corgis!). So we can assume he's smart too.

2) Ceasar is -- as all Corgis are -- a source of inspiration and a perpetual muse to dreamers everywhere.

3) I will claim publication of at least one of their wedding photos in which Ceasar will no doubt play a part. (Flower dog? Attendant? Co-officiant? The possibilities are endless).

What a way to kick off the new year on The Daily Corgi, eh? I truly love and appreciate my community of readers. Where else am I going to get true stories like this, ones that lift not just me up but thousands of others as well? There's always time for a laugh and a smile here in our shared place. I am so blessed by it all.

Chalk one up for romance ... and vive le CORGI POWER!

This is a lovely love story. How clever of Michael to put to use an every day task such as removing Ceasar's collar! Congratulations to Elyse, Michael and Ceasar on taking the next step in your relationship.

Awe that is adorable!! My corgi will be in my wedding for sure! I wanted to make her a flower girl but we can't have her in the church so I'll just have to make sure the photographer gets LOTS of picks of me and her before the ceremony & after!
